Checklist

If you have booked a mixing session here, please have a look at Ronnys technical requests/checklist:

I accept Pro Tools sessions OR individual files with zero-start.

Label the tracks short and easy, and avoid Capital letters.

If you have tracks that are depending on a certain plug-in (e.g. a soft synth), always bounce or record this to a new track.

If you deliver PT sessions, you need to clear the session of unwanted information, especially if you plan to upload the project. Always BACK UP your project first though. The easiest and best way to clear a session would be:

Remove every hidden and muted track that is not supposed to be in the mix. Remove every playlist not in use (if you worked with playlists). After you have done this, select unused regions and choose "clear", and then "remove". Now use the "Save Copy In" command from the File menu. Check the boxes for "all audio files", and "don't copy fade files". Don't change anything else. Choose a location and hit "save".

This will create a smallest possible session copy that you can zip/rar and upload, or put directly on the hard drive/DVD discs that you send here.

Tips for recording:

If your style of music may ask for support/replacement samples for kick drum, it's a good practice to record the actual sound of a D-Drum microphone (not a sample sound, just the poop or click generated by the D-Drum trigger mic) in addition to the normal kick mic(s).

Make sure the drums are edited and really good BEFORE you record anything else.

Make sure your instruments are in good shape and well intonated before a recording session. Intonation sometimes needs to be checked every day, and tuning certainly needs to be checked all the time, with a GREAT tuner, and FRESH strings.

A lot of times I re-amp rhythm guitars during mixing as an additional service. It can be a good idea to record Di-signals for this purpose.

Vocal tuning is nothing that's included in mixing. That said, if you or your producer don't have the proper ability and vocal tuning is needed, we do offer this additional service. Contact us for details.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you require more specific information on how to optimize your recording process based on your situation!
